Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Training in Argyll and Bute

Argyll and Bute HSCP offers FREE training courses to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention. These courses are open to anyone living or working in Argyll and Bute, including community members, healthcare professionals, educators, and anyone passionate about improving mental wellbeing.

To register for any of the courses, email nhsh.ab-sptraining@nhs.scot with your name and preferred course details. We are here to support your training needs and help improve the mental wellbeing of communities across Argyll and Bute.

Scottish Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA)

SMHFA provides general information about mental health problems, helping you learn how to recognise when someone is in mental health distress.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

ASIST is a suicide first aid training course, delivered in a 2-day practical workshop. It develops skills through simulated scenarios. 

Mental Health Awareness Training for Rural Scotland by Change Mental Health

Change Mental Health is offering free mental health training for small rural organisations as part of their Rural Connections project.

safeTALK

safeTALK is a suicide alertness training that teaches to recognise people who may have thoughts of suicide and how to connect them to appropriate help.

"Ask, Tell" Workshops

"Ask, Tell" workshops are designed to improve knowledge around suicide, self-harm, mental health, and compassionate conversation. 

Suicide Intervention and Prevention Programme (SIPP)

SIPP aims to improve awareness of suicidal thinking, increase confidence to ask if someone feels suicidal, and to support them to seek further help.

First Aid for Youth Mental Health

FAYMH course at SCQF Level 5 is ideal for anyone who works with or supports young people, including teachers, volunteers, education staff.
